Sex racket busted in Thiruvananthapuram, 18 held

The police have busted a sex racket that operated in Thiruvananthapuram city. All the members of the racket are from North India. The group worked in some of the busiest places in the city such as Thambanoor and the Medical College.

The Kerala Police came to know about the sex racket only when the Assam Police team reached Thiruvananthapuram and informed the City Police Commissioner Balram Kumar Upadhyay about it.

According to the police, the racket operated under the guise of couples. The majority of the customers are from other states. They were brought to the lodges in the name of relatives of the couple.

It has been proven that such people were accommodated in lodges that remained closed during the Covid lockdown. With this, the police decided to inspect the lodges. During the subsequent inspection, 9 men and 9 women were nabbed. This includes a minor girl. All except Muzahul Haq and Rabul Hussain, the masterminds behind the racket, were released after slapping a fine. The women in the group and the two main accused will be taken to Assam.

The leaders of the sex racket have a case in Assam related to human trafficking. The Assam police arrived in the capital in connection with their phone call. It is not yet clear whether there are Malayalees as the customers of this sex racket. It is learnt that the police will investigate the matter.
